		<description>I have to agree with Prof. Delong. He&#039;s not alone. The public&#039;s respect for journalism is abysmally low, which makes it even more important for the press to be transparent about the process of putting stories together. (And to be as honest as possible when a mistake is made.)</description>

		<description>Wouldn&#039;t you say that this episode--in which ProPublica says that there is something bad about Goldman Sachs&#039;s not being enthusiastic about every bond people might buy, and then clams up--would predispose one to a low degree of respect for the press?

The old &quot;the story speaks for itself&quot; was always a simple power play: we own a printing press and you don&#039;t, and so you have to answer our questions while we don&#039;t have to answer yours. I don&#039;t think that was ever a healthy situation...</description>
