Thank you for focusing on the Creative Commons issue.

It raises a similar issue about non commercial TV/Radio. The line between "this show is made possible by the XYZ corporation or the abc Foundation" and a paid ad is pretty blurry.

Maybe this is the tip of the iceberg of a larger discussion about profit v non profit institutions. The difference between a profit making college and a non profit college is ?. The drive to put students in the seats is similar. The opacity of outcomes is similar. The definition of "education" is as blurry or clear without regard to it's non profit status.

The price to students at Public Higher Ed is often somewhat less, but still a very significant burden on students. The richer schools might have a lower net cost to students once scholarships are taken into consideration.

On the other side, non profit status is sometimes abused as a way to control the uses of capital and still shelter from taxes.

It will be interesting how this plays out in an Obama,et al. world.
