An additional problem with the platform agnostic notion is that it tends to background the unique characteristics of each.

The web is the most convenient place to search for what you know you want and to follow links for a deep context for what you want to understand. It is also the best way to store you what you have found interesting and from the business point of view it's the best way to find and buy stuff and services.

A Kindle or other e readers are the most convenient to read a compelling narrative when you are waiting on a line or riding the subway.

Print is the most convenient way to encounter stuff that you are not looking for and do nanosecond searches using the visual, as opposed to the language, part of the brain. Since it's very convenient to revisit printed information, it's also the best way to capture information for the purpose of mulling.
