Lots of food for thought and fuel for innovation here, Martin. Thanks for summarizing for those of us who could not attend. One correction: Last I knew, Steve Yelvington was with Morris, not Cox. (Thanks, fixed that — ML)

My two cents:
1. Matt's blog at http://www.newsless.org/ deserves a close read, not only for it's info architecture (design), tone and words. I think it's one of the best "thinking sites" on the web.

2. The skills and technology described for a newspaper can be easily transferred to describe best practice of teaching in high school. Most high school teachers also think they have to tell the story, instead of mentor the conversation that solves the mystery.
