How about he told ALL of his employees by email?????? My wife was in management and she didn't even know that this was coming. In fact, she had asked the owner about 3 weeks ago if her job was safe, and he looked her in the eye and flat out lied to her and said, "yes, if you do your job you have nothing to worry about" Well, not only did he lie to her, he lied to the community by telling everyone that they were paying for thier insurance for the month of July. If that's the case, why in the hell did they take out health insurance on my wife's last check? Also, why didn't she get her 1 week of vacation pay? I hope Harvey will rest comfortably knowing he put a lot of families in a crisis situtation, my family being one of them. He could have atleast told his management about his plans to give them time to talk to their employees, and give everyone some time to figure out what they are going to do. Don't be a coward and email the news either! My wife busted her ass for this company! she worked up to 70 hours a week and weekends! BS!

Dave: I have seen mention of 95 employees also, and I assume many of those are part time. As well, it may include independent contractors. So the fulltime equivalents count is probably much lower, maybe 40-50.

"Roy Duddy, interim director of the [NH] state Division of Economic Development, said he believes about 120 people work for the company [Eagle Publications].

Circulation of 8000 + 3 weeklies and 120 people.
Sounds as if the cost structure was way out of whack.

I lived in Claremont for a few years and always wondered why they did not pursue the internet better. I knew the designer who built their first site.

Why not have an online only version, RSS subscriptions and online advertising and not lose their name. Kudos for Nancy because I am sure there are many people from Claremont who want local news in their Google Reader..
