Mathew, I really don't think Fast Flip is any great innovation in user interfaces for consuming news. Lord knows I'll rarely use it, but I also never search for "us open" or "kanye west" in Google News, which apparently lots of people do. But as Ken explains more eloquently than I, the import here is the revenue share with publishers. Though PaidContent warns against reading too much into this, I see it as major shift that we're likely to see become the norm is those other experiments that Google is apparently is cooking up. —Zach

I can see why Google might want to throw a bone to newspaper publishers -- as it has with the proposal to use Google Checkout for micro-payments -- and this visual browsing certainly plays to the view that maintaining the original look of an article matters. I just don't think that's how a majority of people are ever going to consume the news. But I could be wrong :-)

Zach: Agree the rev sharing, though small on such an experimental product, is key. Also worth noting how far behind Google is in News, #9 behind all the other major aggregators. Ken
