		<description>The Downie/Schudson report has huge holes: virtually ignoring social media, which will be a major factor in the future of journalism. Their presumption that accountability journalism needs federal help because of the collapse of advertising also ignores the fact that media companies have done little to move beyond advertising. The report makes just passing mention of the possibilities for direct transactions at media sites. I have blogged on my criticism of the report:
