Start-ups are not impossible. It's the pessimistic to belief that the small guys can't make a difference. Like the tale of the tortoise and the hare, Technically Philly keeps soldiering on and setting an example for future start-ups while other larger and more profitable corps pass to rethink their methods, if at the very least, kick up the old ones another notch. Brian Kirk, Chris Wink and Sean Blanda have Philly's support, through and through.

Technically PHL, is an awesome site, and a crucial resource to the tech community. Backed by a good team.

From one start up to another, hang in there guys, the tide will turn, and before you know it, you'll be Scrooge Mcduckin' of a diving board into some coin.

In many ways, Technically Philly has produced more bonafide journalism about the tech and creative groundswell in Philadelphia than anyone in the traditional media.

They have already left a mark on our region and I can only hope that they inspire scrappy young journalists across the country.

It's a terrific site. It has company, many times over, throughout the web. Their ideas are sound: cover the hell out of a community; be a member *of* the community; keep costs low; and think about the business side. (Unlike, say, a certain start-up I could name that has double-digit employees ... and only one devoted to thinking about business issues.)

Want proof that it can work? Track down Aaron Kremer at http://www.richmondbizsense.com/ and ask him how they're doing.

(Disclosures: I've talked, briefly, with both the TechnicallyPhilly and RichmondBizSense crews as part of research for a start-up, and for the Knight Center for Specialized Reporting at UMaryland.)

I'm thrilled to see this team's work being explored.

The news industry needs thoughtful, disruptive activity like the work of Sean, Brian, and Chris.

The lessons learned are already shining examples that the greater business community, in Philadelphia and elsewhere, can learn from as well.
