This helps me a little in understanding the struggle I am facing with Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway and Infineon Raceway here in California, who will not take us serious and allow us media access to cover events. Even though we have been allowed to a few events and have submitted proper request with tear sheets and letters.

What are a profit publication, we have come from online to now in print, making the investment to do so all on our own no help from anyone.

My question is what does it take for a magazine to be consider legit? And what happened to freedom of the press? Being denied access to events once you have establish you are a serious magazine, who do we turn to?

Cheers,
Sean

Or, said another way, a license to publish. Nobody except the reader gets to decide whether something published is "legitimate." Not you, not I, not Congress.

I always periodically re-read this to remind myself of how it's done today:

Anyone With A Modem Can Report On The World
Address Before the National Press Club
by Matt Drudge, June 2, 1998

Every "journalism" school in the world should have that chiseled into the facades of their buildings. But likely that will never happen.
