It's great to see that he was able to rally the troops (pun intended) and get the funds he needed. While the fundraising process for laid-off journalists is time-consuming, stressful and ultimately not the best application of their skills, it forces people to really justify their work to a larger group of people, which, in the long run, may end up being good for the industry. I remember seeing Ted’s emails after supporting him on Kickstarter and thinking “He’s not going to raise this money – what a shame”. It’s great to see that he was able to rally the troops (pun intended) and get the funds he needed.

While the fundraising process for laid-off journalists is time-consuming, stressful and ultimately not the best application of their skills, it forces people to really justify their work to a larger group of people, which, in the long run, may end up being good for the industry.
