I'm on the fence about revolutionary iPad apps. Most of the stuff could be done in HTML and Javascript, but nobody did it. Presumably, websites aren't sexy enough. The iPad comes along and suddenly it's possible to do the things that it was already possible to do.

True, there's something about holding the device in your hands, but they really should be applying this to their websites. There are Windows tablets out there; Android tablets aren't far off. Wouldn't an HTML version that works in all of them (and even on desktops and notebooks) be better?

On the other hand, it's a good thing that the iPad is out there and generating some interest for publishers in innovating (even if they should have been all along).
