(see my blog post about pubradio indies using Spot.Us: http://bit.ly/cwlSzZ ) I don't understand why, though, anyone would say, "Even if we don’t raise a lot of money, we’re going to do a lot of this stuff anyway." That's a clear disincentive to invest upfront. Perhaps they shouldn't be using Spot.Us and instead something like Kachingle or a tip jar following the coverage. Their coverage of the race so far has essentially been one long, free advertisement for Kelliher, and I see no reason why that would change. It certainly doesn't count as "journalism," though.
