Interesting post. I think some online writers underestimate the readers and our attention spans. The truth is, if it's interesting to us and we really want to read it, we will read it - whether it's a tweet or a 33 page article. I personally like both short posts AND longer features online, depending on my mood and available time.

I wonder if the increased page views for longer articles occur because of article reload. From my experience, I often break longer articles into multiple reading sessions. As a result, said article often gets held open in a tab. Whenever the browser is reloaded or crashes, the page reappears. Some media web sites even reload based on a timer so that breaking news links are updates. So, I guess my question is are you actually seeing a larger number of users reading the articles or multiple views from the same readers?

Newsweek is a great asset. Newsleak is a liability and liabilities get eliminated. Mix Fresca and VO and you have a cocktail called a Swale. Next thing you know it's happy hour again, so drink up. There's a case for drinking, so drink more beer. Make mine a cold case.
