The Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism is a nonprofit investigative news organization affiliated with the University of Iowa.
The center was launched in spring 2010 by University of Iowa professor Stephen Berry and doctoral student Robert Gutsche Jr. It was initially staffed by students and interns working for free, though its leaders have plans to provide a paid fellowship for a reporter and eventually paid interns and a full-time director. Its initial fiscal sponsor is the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism.
The center covers state and local government, consumer affairs, sports, and arts and culture.
West Seattle Blog is an online-only hyperlocal news operation that covers several neighborhoods in West Seattle. The site was founded in December 2005 by Tracy Record as a personal blog but became a news site in 2006.
