The Press Forward coalition, led by the MacArthur Foundation, has pledged to invest $500 million in revitalizing local news over the next five years while working to raise more.
The precarity of local news outlets has left them with “little to no access to capital.” A new report imagines what state and local government, philanthropies, and community-minded institutions could do to change that.
Though the fellowship in New Mexico is short — just nine months — the majority of alumni are currently working full-time in newsrooms across the state.
