Five months after its failed token sale, Civil is back with a revised, streamlined process. If you’re not an experienced cryptocurrency trader, though, it’ll still take you a while.
Because Civil’s token sale flopped last month, a lot of its journalists haven’t been given the compensation they were led to expect. But even if it does eventually arrive, will it be worth…anything?

The Nieman Lab staffers failed. So did Manoush Zomorodi, a cofounder of one of the new Civil-backed newsrooms that’s leaning on the promises of the company’s forthcoming cryptocurrency sale in August.
