Karen Ho, a global finance and economics reporter for Quartz, is also known on Twitter as the “Doomscrolling Reminder Lady,” for tweeting out periodic reminders to close out of the app: “The most boring things I do now that are effective include logging out of Twitter on my computer when things get too heated or intense; putting my cell phone where I can’t easily reach for it when I’m annoyed, bored, nervous, or procrastinating; using various online timers for tasks to set even smaller deadlines and help me focus; as well as remembering my editors follow me on Twitter and can see if I’m slacking off. I also try to tweet a reminder about drinking water whenever I want to subtweet someone.”
